JAMES FLOCKHABT McKELVIE The death of Air. Janies Flockhar AlcKclvie, of “Pukemarama,” Carnar von, on Saturday evening, removes stil another of the early settlers of th Kangitikei district, and news of hi demise will be received with regre over a wider area than that distric immediately surrounding the townshi] of Bulls. Air. AlcKelvie was born at Lowe Rangitikei in 1870. He was the clde sot. of John AlcKelvie, of Edinburgh , Scotland. He married Jessie Florence daughter of David Scott, a well-know sheepfarmer in the Rangitikei district His wife predeceased him by thrC' years. After completing his education a Wellington College Air. AlcKelvie wen , to his father’s property, Floekhous Station. Kangitikei, and on his father’ death ho took over half of the estate this being that portion on the soul' bank of the Rangitikei River, whiF he renamed “Pukemarauia.” Thi area was originally all flax and manuk; 1 scrub country, but under Mr. AlcKcl 1 vie’s able management it has been con verted into one of the richest shee and cattle stations on the West Coast Air.
