N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. SEIDDON WINS THE HANDICAP The New Zealand Gun Club's annual championship meeting commenced on Monday at the Auckland Gun Club’s grounds, Pakuranga. A large number of shooters took part, including seven former Dominion champions. Among the competitors were members of clubs from various parts of the North and South Islands. The principal match on the opening day was a £5O handicap event, the winner being C. Seddon, of Hamilton. The results of the first day’s events were as follow: — £5O Handicap.—C. Seddon (Hamilton), 22yds, 15 birds- E. J. Schofield (Auckland), 18yds; John Donnelly (Auckland), 18yds; H. Howlett (Hastings), 20yds; L. F. Ramsey (Metropolitan), 18yds; M. Pratt (Otorohanga), 21yds; D. P. North ( Whangarei), 19yds; S. G. Glennie (Gisborne), 22yds, 14. Five-bird Sweepstake.—S. Glennie (Gisborne), 22yds; I. Watkins (Rangiora). 17yds; H. Quaratermain (Palmerston North), 17yds; E. King (Waihi), 20yds, and H. Gage (Metropolitan), 16yds, divided the money. Five-bird Sweepstake (first miss out). —The following shooters, all of whom secured five birds, divided 75 per cent, of the stake: S.‘ Glenijie, H. Pratt, D. North, J. Malcolm (Huntly), D. Ewing, E. King, I. Watkins, C. Drysdale (Auckland). A shoot-off was held for the balance of the stake, Pratt and Glennie tieing. M. Pratt Wins 21-bird Event The principal event, the Dominion championship off 21yds t which was decided on Tuesday, drew an entry of 31, the winner being M. Pratt, of Otorohanga. Best scores were:—M. Pratt (Otorohanga), 20; H. Clinch (National Park), D. P. North (Whangarei), C. C. Rae (Coromandel), .19; C. Seddon ton), J. Malcolm (Huntly), IS: D. Campbell (Hastings), 17. A sweepstake match of 10 birds was won by D. North (Whangarei), with the possible. In a double-rise match, D. North and AV. J. Turner (Auckland) tied with the possible. North won the shoot-off.
