WEATHER FORECASTING
UTILISATION OF STATICS EXPERIMENTS AT AUCKLAND. I Press Association. ) AUCKLAND, May 29. The possibility of utilising static for worldwide weather forecasting has been illustrated by experiments at the Auckland University College during Ine past year by Dr. K. Kneslsheimer, wiio leit Germany alter the introduction of the Hitler regime. He leaves on Friday by the Monowai to take up a lucrative appointment as a research physicist in Aeou oigns, Australia, Limited, Sydney. Since his arrival in Auckland he has constructed sending and receiving sets to study radio wave tracks above the earth in order to find the cause of fading. The machine registers signals on photographic paper. Discussing radio development the doctor said that static would have to be eliminated, especially in New Zea land, where they are very bad. He predicted fewer, but more powerful transmitting stations as illustrated by the Berlin and Moscow 500 kilowatt stations. He praised lYA’s modern technical equipment. The research work will be carried on by Dr. Brown, lecturer in physics, at Auckland.
