KING'S JUBILEE FUND

Sir.- -My has been callee | by Dr. I'lric Williams to a letter he j has written to the Wanganui papers >on his views on cancer. I have already' in private correspondence tried to show Dr. Williams that he attorn. t to prove far too much. The Now Zealand branch of the Briiish Empire Cancer Campaign Society has now a considerable amount of statistical material ready for invest : - gatipn and in this statistical research now beginning, the study of diet in relation to cancer wHI take a prominent, part. IDr. Llric Williams* views wit receive again full consideration. What more dm s he want? He can cite his i cases if lie is so prepared, and until i that, is done ho need not be so dogI matic. I trust he will extend to his I fellow-workers the charity of spirit j which we all dcsi.e to practise rs well as to preach. It is very much aga nst my will that I am being side-tracked on to the lines of cancer research, which includes anything and everything to do with the causes or cure of cancer. It is New Zealand’s Jubilee gift to the King that is my chief concern. It is the King's pleasure that it should be used for cancer research in New Zealand, and that is good enough for me. The gift is to show our loyalty and devotion and how much they are worth. It is through the King’s favour that the Jubilee fund to him will help humanity in New Zealand. On Mav 24 Victoria had in hand £35,000, N.B.W. £33,500, New Zealand £7OOO. Any Post Office will receive any sum, however small, and there has been much publicity. Perhaps we suffer here from inertia.— X am, etc., J. 8. ELLIOTT.
