NEW’ APPOINTMENTS MADE OR. BOKERTSON DEP.UTY-MAYOR DIVISION .QVEB GAS COMMITTEE Committees for the ensuing term of three years were appointed by the Wanganui City Council last right and, coincident therewith, the council elected Cr. J. Robertson to the position for Deputy-Mayor. The appointment was made unanimously and was the outcome of a motion moved by Cr. J. Biddells, who has been Deputy Alayor during the past two years. Generallyspeaking, the »council accepted the committees as suggested by the Mayor (Mr W. J. Rogers), but in respect to the Gas Committee a proposal that Cr. Robertson be appointed chairman was rejected and Cr. G. H. Tiolt was elected. Moving that Cr. Robertson be appointed Deputy-Alayor, Cr. Biddells said that if the position guvo Cr. Robertson as much pleasure us it had given the mover during the past two years, he (Cr. Robertson) would feel pleased at having been appointed. “1 was elected Deputy-Mayor because of having polled the greatest number of votes at the election before last,” said Cr. Siddells, “and Cr. Robertson is entitled to the same privilege.
