Customs revenue continues very buoyant, a further substantial increase being recorded for the month over the figures for April, 1934. Wales tax too, shows a big increase, April’s total being the highest for any individual month this year. The net customs revenue collected at Wellington this month totalled £207,* 431 against £181,g69 for April, 1934. For the four months of 1935 the re. venue is £829,623 compared with £709,807 for the corresponding period of 1934. The duty collected on motor spirit this month, totalled £36,340 at 6d a gallon and £24,226 at 4<l, compared with £36,450 at 6d and £24,307 at 4d for April, 1934. 'The petrol figures for the four-month period are £246,381 and £248,252 respectively. Collections of tire tax totalled £1769 compared with £1520 for April 1934. For the four months the figures arc £7921 and £6045 respectively. The collection of sales tax in April totalled £71,937 compared with £55,336 in April 1931. The total for the four mouths, £261,335, shows an increase of £47,730 over last year’s total. Beer excise collections for April totalled £5234 compared with £4793 fol April 1934. For the period the figure* are £18,926 and £18,415 respectively.
