I BURGLARY AT WAVERLEY ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY. COMMITTED FOB SENTENCE. A single man, I.ugar Arthur aged 27, appeared before Messrs. A. J. Adlam and Gregor McGregor, J’s.P.* iu the \\ averley Police Court yesterday, charged with breaking and entering the store of Messrs, y. Bromilev and . Coy. and that of H. L. Thomas, baker and pastrycook. He pleaded guilt v to both counts and was committed to tho Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. Detective J. Murray, of Wanganui, represented the police and called evidence to show that Petersen had come to Waverloy on April 5 and had broken into Bromiley's premises, but had failed to blow open , the safe. He had thou guue tu Thomas’ shop and robbed the till of some 10s. 8 Bromiley stated in evidence that his shop had been closed at 10.30 or the Friday night. Next morning wit ness had found a, window broken and the back door open. The safe was piled up with bags of sugar aud tho lock had been blown in with dynamite, but the door had buckled in’ such a way that it could nut be opened. 11. L. He had come, to Waverloy and had decided to break into Broniiley’s store. He had failed in his objective there and had broken into Thomas’ premises afterwards, and bad taken money from the till.
