A happy and pleasing function took place yesterday afternoon at the Castlecliff Post Office when a gathering of friends met to farewell Airs. John son, the popular postmistress who is leaving the Castlecliff district. When Mr. Gardner, the secretary of the Wanganui Harbour Board, had spoken of Mrs. Johnson’s work and had ex pressed regret at her departure from the service, he presented her with a handsome tea service and tray, on behalf of her Castlecliff friends. Mr. Ja-k Darling and Air. Pat O’Hara then offered Mrs. Johnson a bouquet together with best wishes from all her friends. Mr. Fulton, the Government grade:' suitably replied for Mrs. Johnson and spoke of her kindness in helping all who came into contact with her durin? her term of office. A very daintv afternoon tea was then partaken of and the function concluded with musi.-al honours. HOTEL LISTS; Beeent arrivals at the New Rutland Hotel are as follow:—Mr. R. ID. Thompson, Mr. H. D.
