CROQUET PARTY

Airs. Hope Gibbons and Miss A. Gibbuns were hostesses at the closin'' croquet afternoon of a series 1h ■ at their residence, Sedgebrook, this season. Glorious sunshine crowned rhe day with success and the beautiful terraced gardens were looking very bright in their autumn colours, the roses looking especially lovely. The afternoon was spent in croquet matches and competitions and a dainty afternoon tea was served on the verandah. At the conclusion of the afternoon the prizes were presented to the winners of the various competitions and to the winner of the skittles for the year. Airs. Raine expressed thanks to Airs, and Aliss Gibbons for their kindness in putting their grounds at the disposal of the players, and presented them with small gifts in appreciation. The prizes went to Airs. Jansen, hurry skurry; angles, Aliss Anderson and Air. Carr; skittles. Mrs. C. P. Brown and Mrs. A. H. Boyes; visitors, Mrs. J. G. Robinson; and skittles for the year, Aliss Gibbons and Aliss Polson. Among those present were Mrs. N. R. Bain, Airs. O. Gardner , Airs. Barclay, Airs. Ball, Airs. Ale Rae. Airs- JR. Franklin, Airs. Harden, Airs. W. Baird, AErs. Zeisler, Airs. G. Payne, Airs. Jansen. Airs. B. Barkman, Airs. A. Barton (senr.). Airs. Christie, Aliss Parsons, Mrs. Hay-Campbell, Aliss WAnderson, Airs. Afillward. Airs. F. Talboys, Airs. R. Giblin. Alns. John Anderson, Airs. Lance Craig, Mrs. Tye, Airs. L. Brinkman.
