HOSPITAL ESTIMATES
LOWER LEVIES MADE. YEAR BEGINS IN CREDIT. The Wanganui Hospital Beard concluded the past financial year with a credit of £453 17s 4d. Estimates were placed before the board at its meeting yesterday covering the current period and these called upon contributing local bodies to find £513 13s 7d less in levies this year than last. The levies made on each respective contributing body were shown as follows: —Bulls Town Board, £9B 13s 2d; Hunterville Town Board, £7B 9s 10d; Mangawcka Town Board, £39 15s 3d; Marton Borough Council, £674 7s 4d; Ohakune Borough Council, £9l 2s 2d; Raetihi Borough Council, £165 14s; Rangataua Town Board, £8 13s 4d; Rangitikei County Council, £8074 6s Id; Taihape Borough Council, £343 12s lOd; Waimarino County Council, £1349 13s 2d; Waitotara County, £2092 16s 6d; Wanganui County, £1912 15s lid; Wanganui City Council, £4995 8s; total, £19.925 7s 10d. Last year’s total was £20,4G9 Is sd. Yesterday’s meeting was the last the board will hold prior to the elections. Tributes were paid to the manner in which Mr W. E Broderick. the chairman, had carried out his duties.. His impartiality at the head of the board table was commended. Tributes were paid also to the board's architect. Mr T. H. James, on the excellent additions to the hospital and the new block now taking shape. Th® managing-secretary and the staff—medical, administrative, and domestic —were complimented on a difficult year’s working. Mr Broderick, returning thanks to the members for their expressions of loyalty to himself, expressed the hope that they would all be returned and that the work now so well in hand would be carried on as smoothly as it had been during the period urnler review.
