CHARGES OF FORGERY
_ REMARKABLE INCIDENTS MAN AND TWO WOMEN ( Per Press Association. ) WELLINGTON, April 10. A number of remarkable forgeries invoking the impersonation by a woman of another woman iu order to provide I .security fr raising loans, and conspirsecurity for raising loans, and conspirMagist rate’s Court to-day when David Hodges, aged 45. a clerk, and two women appeared before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M. The hearing of the charges occupied the Court all day. With Phyllis Gladys Davis, married woman, Hodges was charged with con- ■ spiracy to defraud people on two occa- ■ sions of £55 and £l5O respectively. With Kathleen Jessie Alekna, married, | he was charged with conspiracy to defraud the Union Bank of Australia of j £350. Charges were also preferred | ; against Hodges alone of forging a let- ! ler and obtaining by false pretences : various small sums. i The three charges of obtaining money on false pretences against Hodges were remanded for hearing on April 17 until the indictable offences had been dealt with, Hodges and Davis pleaded guilty on the remaining charges and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, while Alekna pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for ' i tr ' — .—
