Engagement. The engagement is announced of Nora Thelma, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Munro, to Horace Walter, fourth son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Benson, of Wanganui East. Kitchen Party. Mrs. Colin Gardner, of Hawera, who is at present visiting her mother, Mrs. Doig. St. John’s Hill, was hostess at a kitchen party last evening given in honour of Miss Leg Swan who is to be an Easter bride. The guests enjoyed bridge in roonis attractively adorned with choice dahlia blooms. Dance at Wangaehu. The Wangaehu Catholic Church (Committee’s dance will be held to-night in the Wangaehu Hall, special novelty dances, Monte Carlos, music by the Carlton Dance Band and the usual bountiful supper will provide the many patrons with a night of joy. A free ’bus will leave from Hodson’s Garage. Wedding and Easter Gifts. Buying wedding presents is rather exciting, particularly when there is an attractive array to choose from. In my round? of the shops yesterday I noticed many beautiful goods displayed in J. Williams and Co.’s. Jewellers, lor instance, the ■ gleaming crystal pieces were most’ enticing and the silverware articles would be a lovely addition to any dinner table. Girls’ College Sports. At the Girls’ College sports, held a the end of last week, the in termed! ate championship resulted in a tie bp tween Joan Barstow and Jean Smith Pilling.
