WESTMERE

The April meeting of the Westmere Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday, when Airs. Feist presided over a large attendance of members and friends, including several members from the Alaxwell Institute. Airs. Brownlie and Airs. Wilson were appointed delegates to the Federation Council meeting. The appointment of a representative on the organising committee for the forthcoming Institute Drama Festival was left to the Drama Circle. Airs. Robinson was appointed as Westmere’s representative on the exhibition committee. The following sub-committee of junior members was set up to take charge of the Alay meeting: Alisses Burns, Dunbar, Nicholls, Williams, Ross, Rogers, Taylor, J. Smith, Barnes. The competition for best report was won bv Airs. Brownlie. Air. Will Hutchens gave a most delightful talk on folk-music, illustrated by numerous characteristic examples of old. folk-songs. Airs. Hutchens acted as accompanist. Airs. Feist, on behalf of the institute, tc-ok the opportunity of bidding farewell to Aliss A. Lancaster, who is leaving "Westmere at the end of the school term. Aliss Al. Jenson, who is shortly to be married, was the recipient of a charming bouquetThe hostesses were Alcsdames Kitt, O’Toole. Alisses Burns, Dawes and Nichol 18.
