The racing smash at the Ascot course on March 27 was inquired into by the A.J.C. stewards to-day. The Jockey D. Lightfoot gave evidence that his mount. The Motorist, was the first to fall owing to its foreleg failing, which was not due to any interference or defect in the track. The stewards found accordingly. SILVER RING IMPROVED DONCASTER CANDIDATE. Received April 10. 11.30 p.m. SYDNEY, April 10. Silver Ring is much improved and trotted round the centre of the track to-day. He moved quite freely when walking and trotting, but is unlikely to race before the Doncaster Handicap. He will probably stretch out by the week-end.
