Juubert, this morning received a radio message from the Moniterey, which, axrived at Buva today; “Nothing was seen of the French yacht Korrigane. ” Jhe Consul thereupon telephoned the Marine Department at Wellington, who advised that the Maui Pomare had already been diverted by radio on ihe voyage from Niue to Auckland U) make a thorough search. The Consul stales that the French Government i« greatly concerned.. The owner of the yacht, Couut de Gauay, is a director j of bchneider and Co., which brackets with ihe Creuzut Ereuch armament hrm. The Consul is iu constant communication with Paris. A report from R-M.s. Aorangi that last Wednesday afternoon she saw one tf the boats of the French, yacht schooner Korngane, with its starboard side stove in, adrift about 506 miles j from Auckland, on the route from I here to Suva, aroused a certain amount of apprehension. Other vessels passing through that area have reported, however, that although fairly heavy seas were encountered there no ■uch storm as would endanger % ves sei like the Korrigane. As no other wreckage was sighted by the Aorangi, it is generally considered that the boat was washed overboard by a heavy sea, which did no further harm to the yacht. At the request of lhe French Con.'iil at Auckland, Al. Joubert, lYAstalion broadcast on .Sunday evening the following message to the Korrigane; “ You are urgently required to com- , niunicaie with the French Consul at i Auckland. Perhaps you can get * ' radic-graui. to him through a passing ship. Failing that, report from your first port of call.” Although the Korrigane has several receiving sets, she has no transmitting apparatus, ami therefore cannot communicate direct. A wireless message received last night by M. Joui bert from the French Consul at Suva, I stating that the ya*cht had not been i reported there.
