HOSPITAL BOARD Estimates fur the present financial year were considered at Ihe monthly meeting of the Patca Hospital .Board ye.'-tenmi, those present being Alessrs. C. IL Duney field (chairman), W. H. Watkiii.x, < . E. Johnston, W. Back, AT. Chris'ensen, J. Lupton, K. J. Watt, R. G. Scown and IL AJ iddletun. The secretary (Air. W. E. Sheild), staled that receipts last year had been in excess of these estimated, while expenditure had been kept very low, aiucii lower than estimates al lowed, especially in outdoor relief charitable aid. In considering estimates for this year’s working.-, the board was injuruied that, based on the past year’s imaiiut'. the estimates would require a ievj uf £15.59 on the local bodies of the board's district of £1589, compared with the amount uf the levy last year of £lBlB. The estimates as submitted by the secretary were approved for submission to the department. The chairman reported that the builders would be finished at the hospital shortly the domestic building promising tu be completed by the enu uf next week. The total cost, including contract, architect’s fees, extras, men's ward and furnishings, would work out at approximately £3996. Lists vi requirements for furnishing the new additions to the hospital were submitted by the matron and medical superintendent, quotations having been obtained, and these lists were discussed. Quotations for furnishings are to be further obtained; while the requirements for the medical superintendent are to be procured. Matron Harris repu-rted Nurse Seddon was on leave. Dr. YV. T. Bimmons, medical superintendent, reported that with 24 patients in the hospital at the beginning of the month, 30 (18 male, 12 female) patients had been admitted. Of these, 23 (12 male, 11 female) had been discharged, and one male had died, so that there were 30 (14 male, 16 female) remaining. Before the report was adopted, the chairman reported that there were 37 patients in hospital that morning—almost a full complement prior to the additional wards. The matter of rhe two telephones in the hospital was discussed, members considering that two were unnecessary.
