SWIMMING
ARAMOHO CLUB CONCLUSION OF SEASON. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. Last Wednesday evening was the “big night” for club racing at the Aramoho Swimming Club. Before a gathering of about 200 spectators a programme of keen competitive racing was staged. This scries of races was the last of the club events but further nights will be usee for swimming providing the weather be suitable. During the evening Mr. C. H. Downey, a vice-president of the club, presented the trophies won during the season. Mr. Downey thanked the public for their loyal support throughout the all-too-short season, and expressed the hope that next year the club would become affiliated to the Wanganui Swimm-ng Centre, thus enabling outside talent to be displayed at the local bath. Mr. Downer especially thanked mca bers of t]ie committee, of which he was chairiiitiii, for their loyal interest. He sirc-se-l the work done by the secretary. Mr. W. Loveridge, who put a great deal of his time in assisting ‘.hj Hub in its activities, night after night. Special mention was made of the caretaker, Air. C. P. Firmin, and it was to him that praise was due for the excellent condition in which the i ath was found. Air. Downey, assisted by th? dub captain. Air. A. Noble, then prescnt,2-.i the trophies to the following winm rs -- son of the year, to take its load practically straight away. The engine should not be raced, but it should be driven sufficiently fast to ensure an abundant oil flow while it is warming up tn its work.

Junior Boys’ Cup. —T. Aloft. Senior Men’s Diving Cup (donated by Mr. A. D. Smith). —W. Loveridge. Senior Ladies’ Diving Cup.—Miss P. Gurr. x Interim Boys’ Dive (cup donated by Mr. Clooney).—A. Todinan. Junior Boys’ Dive (cup donated by Mr. C. P. Firmin). —A. Bryson. Popularity Cup. —Miss H. Gould. Several dub championship certificates were also distributed, and Mr. Downey concluded by thanking everyone for their interest taken in the swimming.
