THE WAIPAWA TRAGEDY ACCUSED REMANDED AGAIN F Par Prjos Association ] NAPIER, March 21. Charles William Price, alias Edwards, who was indicted on a charge of murdering Evelyn May Madden at Argyll East, Waipawa, early in February, appeared before Mr. ‘J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M. at the Napier Police Court this morning and was further remanded until April 11. Appearing for the police, DetectiveSergeant J. Bickerdice stated that investigations into the case had not been completed. It was certain, however, that the police case would be ready by April 11, to which date he asked that, accused be remanded. Mr. S. Averill, counsel for Price, agreed to the request and the remand was granted. A crowd of about 100, mostly men, gathered outside the Napier Courthouse and waited for the appearance of Price and escort from the direction of the police station. Accused, however, was taken to the Courthouse early and entered by a side door. He was escorted away from the Courthouse through the back entrance. As a result, the great majority of the 1 public was still waiting for his appearance when the case had been dealt with and the accused was half-way back to the police •nation.
