WOMEN DEMONSTRATE. SCENE IN CHRISTCHURCH. [ Par Praia *4»oci*tio». 1 CHRISTCHURCH, March 11. Shouting “We want bread,” forty women, wives of unemployed, beseiged the central relief depot this morning, demanding additional food. When told that no supplies were available, an angry demonstration resulted and the place was almost m a turmoil uulu the police were summoned and a sergeant arrived. After several scuffles the depot was cleared.

Later a deputation of women waited on the Citizens’Unemployment Committee, which also stated that it could do nothing in the matter. Later meeting the Mayor (Mr. Sullivan) iu his room, the women were promised that a dozen of the most urgent cases would be helped by tihe Salvation Army to-morrow morning.
