MORTGAGE BILL
AMENDMENTS URGED. ATTITUDE OF FARMERS. I Per Press Association ) PALMERSTON N., March 9. Following an address by Mr. W. JPolson, M.P., at Hangiotu. last evening Io a meeting of Farmers’ Union and rhe Dairy Farmers’ Union, a resolution was caried as follows: — “This meeting is of opinion that as an aid to the dairy farmer the Mortgage Corporation Bill is perfectly useless, since it will neither lower the rate of interest, reduce capital liability nor tend to improve seeuritiy of tenure. If, however, the Government is determined to force it upon the community we urge it to be amended as follows: — “This meeting is of opinion that as an aid to- the dairy farmer the Mortgage Corporation Bill is perfectly useless, since it will neither lower the rate of interest, reduce capital liability, nor tend to improve security of tenure. If, however, the Government is determined to force it upon the community we urge it to be amended as follows: That all shareholder capital be abolished and that the Corporation bonds be State guaranteed to ensure the lowest rate of interest being secured.’”
