AUCKLANDER’S EXPEDITION ( Per Press Association. I AUCKLAND, Feb. 25. An ambitious scheme to salvage the gold lost when the American barque General Grant was wrecked 69 years ago in the Auckland Islands is being developed by a young Aucklander, Mr. D. P. L. Twiss, who hopes to leave in a month or two with a schooner and provisions for a nine months’ stay. Other expeditions in the past have failed to recover the gold or even to locate the wreck and it is uncertain how much gold was in the cargo, but Mr. Twiss, who has been collecting information and designing special equipment for deep-sea diving, expresses confidence in sue• ■• ■ ss.
