WEDDINGS
RAMSDEN—BEETHAM. A wedding of widespread interest was celebrated al St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Master! on, on Saturday afternoon, when Beatrice Hazel Wardell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beetham, ‘ ‘ Highmore, ’ ’ Lansdowne, Masterton, was married to lan Cecil, son of Mrs. E. M. Ramsden, and the late Mr. Ramsden, Rangitumau, Masterton. The Rev. E. J. Rich was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of mangolia satin, cut on classical lines, trained, and finished with a plaited girdle. Masses of filmy tulle were worn as a veil, and held in place with a circlet of orange blossom buds. She carried a sheaf of Philippincso lilies. There were three bridesmaids, the Misses Margaret Beetham (chief, cousin of the bride), Margaret Mawley, cousin of the bridegroom, and Beryl Beetham, si&ter of the bride, and three small maids, Ana Beetham, sister of the bride, and Susan and Barbara Bolton, cousins of the bride. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in frocks of Persian blue taffeta, with the front streamlined. An Ohl World and yet a modern touch was given by a twisted bertha on the wide-cut neckline and two cascading frills falling from the hips to the end of the train. Silver kid sandal shoes, and headbands of silver leaves, provided the only contrast. The three small attendants were also attired in Persian blue taffeta, their long frocks being simply made with gathered skirt* from yokes. They als< wore silver sandals and eilver-leafed headbands. Alt six maids carried bouquets of red and blue to tone with their frocks. The best man was Mr. Ronald Cameron, Masterton, and the groomsmen were Messrs. Alister Buchanan and Jack Reed. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, where the many guests were received by the bride's mother, who was dressed in a beige and brown lace frock, with a coatee trimmed with fur, and a hat to tone. She was assisted by Mrs. Ramsden, mother of the bridegroom, who wore a frock of midnight blue matalasse, with lace sleeves and hat to match.
