GUNMAN IN SIAM

DICTATOR WOUNDED. BANKOK Feb. 24. Luang Pibulasonggram (Minister of Defence) was wounded while entering his car after witnessing a football match, w’hen a gunman shot him in the neck and an arm with a pistol. The gunman was arrested. Luang was admitted to hospital, his condition not being serious. Royalists regard him as largely responsible for the King leaving Siam. The majority desire the King’s return but Luang, as controller of the army, dominates the position.
