MAGISTRATE'S COURT

WEEKLY SITTING HELD Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., presided the weekly sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Wanganui yesterday. Winiata Rawhiti pleaded guilty to stealing £l, the property of DickKingi. Detective J. Walsh stated that £2 had been stolen, but accused denied having stolen the two notes. He was a single man, aged 21, and a shearer by occupation. He was convicted and sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment. James Connor Carolan, for having driven a motor-lorry with inefficient brakes was convicted and fined 30s costs totalling 12s and solicitor’s fee 10s 6d. John David Dickson, for having driven a motor-lorry at a greater speed than it was licensed to travel, was convicted and lined £2. Costs totalled 12s and solicitor s fee 10s. It was stated that defendant was travelling at 36 ro.p.h.
