BLIZZARD IN ALPS
CHALET CARRIED AWAY. DEATHS FROM EXPOSURE. MUNICH, Feb. 3. A chalet in which eight ski ers took refuge at night on the Kampcnwakl Bavarian Alps was flung 500 feet down the mountainside by an uvalancc today. The silence of the valley was broken by shrieks as some of the skiiers struggled from the wreckage and then dug out their comrades clad only in their night clothes. 'l'he men began to struggle through the biting cold toward Lengrics. Two collapsed and died en route. The remainder reached Lengries in the last stages of exhaustion. They are now in hospital in a critical condition. Altogether there were seven deaths during tho week-end gale and blizzard on the Swiss, Bavarian and Czech Alps. Rescue parties were mobilised in all the alpine regions to search for other ski-iers cut <»(T by tlx' storm.
