WORKS TO BE EXTENDED THE SUCCESSFUL TENDERERS. MACHINERY FROM BRITAIN. [ Per Press Association I WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The successful tenderers for the supply of additional generating units in connection with extensions at the Arapuni power plant were announced today by the Minister of the Public Works, the Hon. J. Bitchener. Generators are to be supplied by the Metropolitan l ickers Coy , England, and th turbines by Boving and Coy, Jyondon. A small portion of the latter machinery is to be made in Sweden. The Minister stated that tenders were received from England, America. Germany, Switzerland, Norway and Czeeho Slovakia. The usual practice of extending a certain amount of preference for materials of British manufacture was adopted. The present plant consists of four units, eax-h of 15 0000 kilowatt capacity. The two machines now to be installed will be each of 21,000 killowabt capacity. Trades on a Warship H.M.A.S. Australia carries among her ship’s complement a large number of F killed tradesmen, and several profitable businesses flourish on the lower deck.
