MONTHLY MEETING HELD 'J he monthly meeting of the Wanganui Harbour .Board was held yesterday, Mr. W. Morrison presiding. . There i were also present Messrs. J. Morrison, -I. T. Hogan. D. Ross, J. Patterson, J. Mil,ward and R. Farley. It was decided that a donation should be made towards the funds being collected for a presentation to Air. E. W. F. Goh ns, who retired from the Department of Labour last month after 40 years of service. A presentation is Io be made to him next month. The financial report stated that receipts lor wharfage during the three months ending December, 1934, had totalled £3997 -Is 7d, as against £34.83 J4s 6d during the same period last year. Pilotage receipts, totalled £562 14s lOd (£6T3 4s 6d last year), ships dues £419 13s Id (£4lO 9s 4d); port dues £732 13s (£BO9 17s 6d); and rents £698 9s 8d (£7OB 10s 2d). The debit balance at the end of December was £23,025 5s 4d, as against £24,014 12s lid last December. Captain F. E. Naylor, the harbourmaster, reported that there had been a depth of 2 lit. Gin. h.w.o.s.t. at the entrance and 18ft. Gin. h.w.n.t. At the town wharf the depth had been 14ft. Gin. h.w.o.s.t. and lift. 9in. h.w.n.t. At the gas wharf it had been 14ft. 9in. h.w.o.s.t. and 12ft. h.w.n.t., and at the Imlay wharf lift. 6in. h.w.o.s.t. and Sft. 9iu. h.w.n.t. During the month there had been 74 arrivals and departures of vessels of a total tonnage of 53,277 tons. The overseas vessel Treherbert had been berthed and had unloaded 1028 tons of guano. Three oversea vessels had loaded in the roadstead, the Mahana, the Norfolk and the Port Brisbane. Tiic bucket dredge had 3OO punt loads from the No- 2 and No. 3 wharves. Mr. li. C. Cass, the foreman, reported that patching work'had been carried out on the town wharf decking and new decking had been laid on Ihe north mole. Decking had also been laid on the south mole. Repairs bad been effected to the Castlecliff wharf and water and drainage laid on to rhe pilot station watchhouse. Mr. E. Hibbard, chief mechanical engineer, reported that a new ammonia condenser section was in course of erection at the cool stores. Lhe reconditioning of the after peaks of the Kaione hail been completed and made ready 4’or inspection preparatory to cementing and painting.
