NICK OF TIME
BRITISH DECISION
TROOPS FOR THE SAAR WAS RISING PLANNED ? NAZISM LESS PROMINENT {By Telegraph—Pres* Association—Copyright) Received Dec. 14, 9.5 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 14. The Times’ correspondent at Saarbrucken says that the British decision to seiid troops to the Saar came in the nick of time. Serious disorder would follow any failure to agree at Geneva. It was even declared that the Nazis had definitely planned a rising for the night of January 13, the day of the plebiscite, beginning by seizing the main electric station at Saarbrucken, plunging a large area in darkness and paralysing the railway services, but a large-scale movement is no longer feared. It is, indeed, suspected that the Nazis secretly welcome the excuse for not attempting such a dangerous moment. The advent of Christmas has givu» the Saar a more cheerful animation than it has known for a long time. The streets are decorated with evergreens, Christmas trees and electric lamps, and the crowds are rejoicing that the apprehensions have been dispelled. Nazi flags have almost disappeared, while the Hitler salute is less prominent than six months ago. WIRELESS CARS BRITISH EQUIPMENT. Received Dee. 14. 7.45 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 14.
