MILK ROUNDSMEN
SIX DAY WEEK ASKED FOR. [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. A deputation from the Milk Roundsmen’s Union to-day asked the Milk Council to support the union’s claim for a six-day week. Their spokesmen said thac no farmer because he had paid £lOO an acre for land, should be given more consideration by the council than others who had paid less. The council, after questioning the deputation, promised to consider the matter when fixing milk prices. When the deputation had retired, the chairman (Mr. Hutchison), said: “It is quite wrong to work men seven days a week. lam not referring to the economic side but to the moral side. It is ridiculous to work men seven 'days a week.” Subsequently the council fixed the retail prices for January to April at 5d for loose milk and s}d for bottled, an increase of id.
