WEEKLY SITTING HELD. . Mr. J. H. Salmon S.M. presided a< the weekly sitting of the Magistrates Court at Wanganui yesterday. Dorothy Y'oung was convicted of having ridden a bicycle on a footpath in the business area of Wanganui. She was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. James Patrick Walsh, was charged with failure to register under the tnemployment Act, and with failure to pay unemployment levies between January 1934 ami October 1934. He was fined £5 on the first charge and convicted and ordered to pay costs only on the second charge. Costs on both charges totalled 10s. Percival Chadwick pleaded guilty to having failed, to register a sheep dog over the age of six months and wa-s convicted and ordered to pay' costs only, 10s. Alfred Charles Smith, and Alfred Wadsworth for failure to regi ster house dogs, were convicted and fined 10s. Mrs. A. Gould, for allowing three cows to wander in Somme Parade, was convicted and ordered to pay a fine Of £1 and costs. 10s. Mitehael Earle, was convicted and fined £5 for having driven at a speed which might have been dangerous to the public. It was stated that he had driven over the intersection of GreyStreet, Parsons Street, Ferguson Street and Springvale Road (Bromley ■- corner) at 45 miles an hour. Costs . totalled 10s. Batch W. Harvey for having parked a car in Victoria Avenue for a period exceeding the time allowed by the bylaws —30 minutes, —was convicted and fined 10s. Costs totalled 10s. J. IL Hill and E. Lind were convicted and fined a similar sum for the same enceFrank Fawcett for having driven a motor lorry carrying a heavier loa< than the lorry was licensed to cariy, was convicted and fined £3. Costs totalled 10s. David A. McKay, was convicted anO fined £3 for a similar offence. Costs totalled 10s. -James Victor Young was also fined £2 on the same charge. Norman Rowe for having driven a motor vehicle at night with only one headlight burning was fined £l. Costs totalled 10s. Edward Rosemergy was fined 10-s for a similar offence and ordered to pay costs 10s. Semuel G. Locksley, for having allowed a motor lorry to remain stationary without lights on a bad corneton the Wangaehu road, was convicted and fined £l. Costs totalled 12s, and solicitor’s fee 10s 6d. Thomas Stanley Madge, for operating a motor omnibus on the main highway at an excessive speed. 45 to 50 miles an hour, was fined £1 and ordered to pay costs 10s. It was state' that the omnibus was allowed to -ravel at 30 miles an hour. It was ea-rying 24 passengers at the time. John H. Semple for operating a motor lorry on the Auekland-Mell’ng-ton highway at an excessive speed was i fined £3 and costs 10s. Inspector Wilson stated defendant was travelling at 43 miles an hour with a five-ton load. He was license' to travell at only 20 miles per houi. Hector Corney and Kendrick Shaw, were fined 10s and ordered to pay 10s costs for having i-’dden a bicycle at night without a light. Henrv Edward Card, licensee of McCarthy’s Hotel, pleaded guilty to selling liquor after hours on September 16. Mr. C. F. Treadwell stated that the licensee was absent in Napier

at the time, and his sister-in-law wm in charge. A fine of £2 and costs wai imposed. Leo Narbey, barman, wh< sold the liquor, was fined £5, with costa 10s.
