TABLE TENNIS. There was a good attendance at the weekly practice on Saturday night. Miss Molly -Butler again won the Dwyer Button. R. Meyer won the Nicol Button after a play off with Miss J Butler, and T. Williams and C. Oppatt secured the Weston Smith Button. After supper the final round for the club trophy was played. The result was a tie between Miss Molly Butler ami A. Matthews, both of whom gained 9 wins. In the play off those present were provided with a fast and exciting game, the winner being A. Matthews. The president (Mr. A. Nesbit) in piesenting the trophy, congratulated the winner on his popular victory. Mr. Matthews, on rising to respond, was greeted with applause. He thanked the. president for his remarks and assured ail that the final game had been very much enjoyed, and he would always value the trophy. Lumsden (15) 2; R. Bishop (14), 1: Miss A. Bracken (18), 1; Ken Lumsdeh (7), 2; R. Harris (5), SANDON DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB The annual meeting was held on Friday evening. Mr. A. Anderson presided over a small attendance. In his report the president said the last season’s play had been enjoyable and also fairly successful. Mention was made of the loss sustained by the club through Mr. I. Edwards leaving the district, and congratulated him on his appointment as county clerk at Murchison. Thanks were expressed for the efforts of the Feilding ladies, who provide afternoon tea, the profits from the teas being spent on the ground. Appreciation of the friendly sporting spirit in which the games have been plaved was expressed. Tms has always been a feature of the games in Feilding. The. finances of the club are not very satisfactory, and a small debit balance is shown. We have a fair supply of material. The report concluded with thanks to members for their co-operation. The report was adopted. Some discussion took place regarding this season’s operations, and it was decided to hold over the election of officers, and a committee ■was set up to find out if sufficient support was offering to play a senior team. Arrangements were also made, to wipe off the debit balance. The meeting was adjourned for a week.
