BOXING
BOUT AT DUNEDIN RAYNER BEATS DAI COSTA FAST, OPEN FIGHTING [ Ter Fress Association ] DUNEDIN, Sept. 16. There was a fair attendance at the Town Hall last night when Clarrie Rayner, 8.13 J (New Zealand), beat Dal Costa, 8-10} (Australia), on points in a ten-rounds contest. The boxers gave a fine display of fast, open fighting, making the pace hot, but although the Australian was game he could not overcome the extra weight and superior strength of the New Zealander. Rayner built up a good lead in the. earlier rounds, but towards the end Costa secured points with lefts to the jaw bur, the blocks lacked sting.
