ST. LEGER STAKES WINDSOR LAD’S SUCCESS [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Sept. 12. As was generally expected, Mr. M. H. Benson’s Derby winner, Windsor Lad, won the last of the season’s classic races, the St- Leger Stakes, run at Doncaster. Windsor Lad led by two lengths at the finish from Sir Abe Bailey’s Tiberius and Mr. J. A. Dewar's Lo Zingaro, who finished third- Windsor Lad’s tinre was oinin. 1 3-s:.ecs., which equals the previous record set up by Coronach in 1926. The following are details: — ST. LEGER. STAKES, £lOO each, with £4OOO added. Owner of second horse to receive 15 per cent, and third 5 per cent, of the whole stakes. Breeder of winner to receive £5OO out of the stakes. Won by two lengths, a similar distance separating second and third horsts. Winner bred by Mr. D. Sullivan, and trained by M. Marsh, of West Iteley, Berks. Windsor Lad, then owned by the Maharajah of Rajpipla, won the Darby on June 6. He was recently sold to Mr- Benson for £50,000.
