ALLEGED ASSAULT
CLAIM AGAINST DOCTOR. ’ - t ( Per Press Association ). INVERCARGILL, Sept. 4. f In the Magistrate's Court at River- r ton this morning, before Mr. E. C. j Levvey, S.M., William Spencer, a war s pensioner, claimed from Doctor J. W. ; Bridgman, formerly of Riverton and now of Greymouth, the sum of £6O 10s ( for alleged assoult The statement of claim set out that . on July 4, 1934. defendant had severely 1 assaulted plaintiff by kicking him and 1 striking him severe blows on the body, ‘ and that as a result, plaintiff had been - confined to his bed for several weeks suffering from an accumulation of fluid * on the lung, bringing on a recurrence ' of tubercular trouble, of which de- ; fendant had knowledge, that plaintiff ‘ was suffering from. The claim was s made up of £5O general damages and J £lO JOs medical expenses. Evidence on behalf of plaintiff occupied the greater pant of the day, the 1 case then being adjourned to Invercargill without a definite date being fixed.
