MYSTERIOUS DISEASE

SOMERSET CATTLE DIE. SEARCH FOR REMEIDY. LONDON, Aug. 14. A mysterious disease, occurring nowhere else in the world, is killing many Somerset cattle. Mr. A. W. Ling, expert in agriculture at Bristol University, says that affected beasts turn yellow and shrivel up. He has analysed the land, grass and water now stocked on the fields, and is awaiting fresh svmr’oms so that he may slaughter some airected beasts, and thus better pursue his investigations. The Somerset farmers call the disease “quickness,’’ owing to the rapidity with which it carries off the animals it attacks. They will be saved thousands of pounds if a remedy can be found.
