BLUE SHIRT DEMANDS
“FIANNA FALL GUNMEN.’ 1 IMMEDIATE. DISBANDMENT. Received Aug. 22, 7.5 p.m DUBLIN, Aug' 21. The Blue Shirt Congress secret session unanimously passed a resolution demanding the immediate disbandment of the “political body of Fianna Fail gunmen known as the Civic Guards special branch, which is conducive to anarchy.” It was the special branch which allegedly fired on the crowd at Cork on August 13. Another resolution demanded that the Government immediately transfer from Cork “the police officers who prominently figured in the uncalled for attacks on unarmed citizens, following the dastardly shooting on August 13.” The Congress also favoured a continuance of the efforts to establish a single Irish State, enabling the people to live under one Government, Republican or Monarchial, as they might decide.
