RESULTS AT WHITE CITY NOEL RYAN BEATS CANADIAN LOVELOCK IN MILE EINAL. LONDON. Aug. G. A holiday crowd of 30,000 at White City witnessed the second day of the Empire Games. The weather was overcast. Edwards, a British Guiana negro, and a veteran competitor, who ran fifth in the half-mile in the Empire Games in Canada, at last gained an Empire title with a magnificent performance in the half-mile, winning in Imin. 54 l-ssec. Noe 1 Ryan (Australia) brilliantly turned the tables on R. Piric (Canada), swimming 20 seconds faster in the final of the 1500 yards free-style than in the heat. The Australian staved off Piric’s determined challenge at the end without unduly hurrying his beautiful long stroke. The failure of Noel Crump (Ne|l Zealand) to steer a true course up the j lane cost him first place in the third : heat of the 100 yards free-style.
