TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES MEN’S SINGLE'S TO DENNIS AIRS AIARSHALL AVINS LADIES’ The AVanganui table tennis tournament was brought to a successful conclusion last evening, when several hard-fought finals were witnessed. Play was of a good standard, and a largo “gallery’’ was kept interested throughout. At the conclusion of play the winners were presented with trophies by Air G. Pownall, president of the Now Zealand Table Tennis Association. Results of the championships were: Alen’s Singles.—Finals: Dennis beat Alarshall, 31—19, 31—23, 31—29, Dennis proved himself a player of some ability for in Alarshall he encountered a seasoned player who knows all the tricks of the game. Ladies’ Singles.—Final: Mrs Alarshall beat Aliss Purcell, 33—21, 29 —31, 34—22. This keenly-contested match met with great approval from many interested spectators. Alen’s Doubles. —Final: Connor Bros, beat Dennis and Dempsey, 16—31, 24—31, 31—13, 31—29, 33—31. Ladies’ Doubles.—Final: Misses Purcell beat Afisscs Gillies and Glover. 31—18, 31—24, Combined. —Final: Dennis and Aliss Purcell beat J. Connor and Aliss Gillies, 31—23, 20—31, 31—22, 22—31, 31—22. B grade results were:— Ladies’ Singles.—Final: Miss I. Duncan beat Miss Strouts, 31—22, 31 —20. Consolation results were:— Alen’s Singles.—Semi-finals: J. Broad beat J. Connor, 31—21, 31—23; L. Connor beat. Dempsey, 31—17, 31—25. Final: L. Connor beat J. Broad, 31 —26, 31—27. Ladies’ Singles.—Second round: Airs Gillies beat Aliss Strouts 31—27. Semifinals: Aliss Gillies beat Airs Gillies, 31 21, 31—28; Aliss Winter beat Alias Connar, 31—29, 29—31, 31—26. Final: Aliss Gillies beat Aliss Winter, 31—-24 28—31, 31—25. Doubles.—Third round: Airs Gillies and Air D. Purcell beat Mr Paul and Aliss O. Glover, 31—19. Semi-finals: Airs Alarshall and Miss I.
