HASTINGS RETAIN TROPHY. WANGANUI LOSE NARROWLY. (Special to “Chronicle.") HASTINGS, July 19. Hastings won an exciting game to retain the Nordon Cup by 3 goals to 2. Wanganui opened strongly and scored in the first few minutes and almost immediately scored a second goal. Hastings reduced the delicit about the middle of the first spell from a corner hit and drew level just before half-time from a scramble in the circle. The second spell was very hotly contested. Hastings scored the winning goal near the finish. FAST, THRILLING GAME. ( Per Press Association. ] HASTINGS, July 19. Hastings withstood Wanganui’s Nordon Cup challenge by three goals to two in a fast, thrilling game. The visitors scored two goals in the first ten minutes. The homesters settled down thereafter, holding a territorial ad vantage, but superiority was uot pronounced and the scores are a good indication of the game. The Wanganui scorers were Smallwood and Howatson, while the Hastings scorers were Prior (2) and Heslop. There was a keen conclusion, the visitors strongly attacking.
