These works would practically complete the metalling of Rangitikei roads and would give every settler in the county, except ten, an all-weather road to their homestead sections. The works covering 45.5 miles of metalling would take at least two years to complete, so about £3OOO Public Works Department grant in aid would be required during the current year, and the balance in 1935-36. The county would require to borrow for items, 1, 2, and 4, and 3, 5 and 6 would be advanced out of county fund. The average cost would be avout £550 per mile. The county would then have approximately 900 miles of metalled roads to maintain.
