BILL BEFORE THE HOUSE ( Per Press Association ). WELLINGTON, July 5. The British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Bill was introduced to the House to-dav by the Hon. J. A. Young, who said that it conferred powers upon women to declare their nationality and gave them rights they did not enjoy under nationality law. It would bring the Act into line with recent amendments made in Britain and go a little further. In a case where a husband changed his nationality, the wife would have the right to sav whether she would remain a British citizen or adopt her husband’s nationality. The Bill was read a first -ime.
