MINISTER’S STRAIGHT VIEW PRESENT SYSTEM SOUND NO ENQUIRY NECESSARY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Received July 5, 6.30 p.m. LONDON, July 5. Mr. Neville Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, during a debate on ’ the monetary policy, declined to accede I to a suggestion that a committee should be set up to make a new enquiry into the subject. ‘ ‘ We have a sound banking system, wc have cheap capital, we have general confidence in finance and we have stable exchange. Under these circumstances I shall not set up a new inquiry to investigate new experiments when we have secured so much success under our present policy.”
