MOTOR MECHANICS’ DISPUTB OUSTANDING QUESTIONS. ( Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, July 5. At a sitting of the Cloneiliat/iou Coun* oil to discuss the llominion motor mechanics’ dispute, the employers agreed to pay motor mechanics is lid an hour, assemblers and vuloanisers Is .id, garage attendants and improvers Is 7d. The employees accepted the rate for mechanics, but insisted that assemblers and vuloanisers be paid Is 9Jd and garage attendants and im provers Is Bd, After a long discussion it was agreed that double rates be paid for Sundays, Christmas Hay, and Good h'riday, and time and a-haif for other holidays The employees asked for 2s Gd a shift extra for night work, but the employers did not agree to more than 2d an hour extra. The council adjourned sine die so that the proposals can be further dis cussed by the parties.
