JEAN BATTEN’S MOTHER

ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON (.Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, July 4. Miss Jean Batten’s mother, Mrs E. Batten, arrived to-day by the Rangi tiki from England. Her daughter was to have welcomed her by flying ovei the Rangitiki in the stream, but the weather conditions were unfavourable Mrs. Batten, in an interview, saic that once Jean definitely decided she wanted to make the flight she gave he: every support. She said that she wa: up all night when Jean was makii the final stage of the journey, and tolc how relieved she was and elated whei Jean arrived in Australia. Regarding any future flight of her daughter sh< said that she had implicit faith in he and she would not stand in her way. Miss Batten leaves for Blenheim K air on Friday and goes on to Christ church the following day.
