FIERCE FIGHTING
POLICE AND STRIKERS SAN FRANCISCO WATERFRONT BLOCKADE-RUNNING TRUCKS (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received July 4, 11.5 p.m. SAN FRANCISCO, July 3. Amid fierce fighting, heavily-laden lorries began to move cargo from the strike-locked docks on the local waterfront, since June 27. At least two policemen were hurt and an undetermined number of pickets injured as several hundred strikers advanced upon the blockade-running trucks and we>i met by over 600 city policemen, who fired shotguns in the air, hurled gas Bombs and split innumerable scalps with swinging batons. The movement of cargo represented the San Francisco Industrial Association’s effort to open the port, which has been closed since Mav 9.
