SCOPE IN PALESTINE
JEWS WAITING TO ENTER. DEPUTATION TO MINISTER ( British Official Wireless. ) RUGBY, June 29. A deputation from the Board of Deputies c-f British Jews in an interview with the Secretary of the Colonics, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, represented that the feeling in Pales tiuian and world Jewry was that labour schedules Inadequately met the economic absorptive capacity of Palestine, and that as a result that country was not in a position to exploit to the full its economic possibilities and na cural resources The deputation emphasised that numerous young single able-bodied persons, who had specially trained for life in Palestine, were awaiting permission to enter the country. The earnest hone was expressed that the Government would take into consideration the requirements of the Jewish national home, as also the condition of the majority of Jews outside that country, and would in full measure implement the established principle tnat immigration into Palestine should be permitted to the extent to which that country was able to absorb fresh immigrants. Jn thanking the deputation, Bir Philip said policy and principles were not in dispute. The rate of immigration must be governed by the economic absorptive capacity of the country. Executive decisions in accordance with that policy must rest as hitherto with the High Commissioner, to whom he intended to send n full account of the interview..
