POPULAR BEAR’S DEATH

11 Winnie the Pooh, the old American black bear at the Zoological Gar- I dens, in London, died recently from I old age. She arrived at the zoo from America in December, 1914, and had been a universal favourite. On her birthday she received hundreds of post cards from children. Mr. Seth, curator of mammals uud birds at the zoo, said that no one knew exactly how old “Winnie the Pooh” was. “She certainly was very old. We had coaxed her with special foods and things like that—but she just died.”
