THE TABLES TURNED ON OLD BOYS RESULTS OF LAST SATURDAY’S SENIOR RUGBY POSITIONS OF TEAMS AT END OF SECOND ROUND [BY •‘CROSSBAR:’] Playing hard, rugged Rugby, for which tho club has been noted for years, Kaierau defeated Wanganui and Old Boys on Saturday in the final match of the second round of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union’s senior competition. The scores of 18 to 5 correctly set forth the trend of the game, and very definitely gave Kaierau a point lead in the championship. Marist, displaying mediocre form after the strenuous effort of the Saturday before, deserved to go under to Technical Old Boys by 13 points to nil. Pirates had a close shave on the Racecourse, winning against Waverity as the result of a field goal, a scoring medium which gave the blacks victory against this club in the first round also. The positions of the teams at the end of the second round are as follow: Kaierau 15 Old Boys 14 Pirates 10 Technical Old, Boys 8 Marist 7 Waverley 6 The third round opens next Saturday. On Wednesday next 10 players who have worn the All Black jersey will participate with upwards of 20 more in a trial match at Wanganui which is to pave the way to the selection of a North Island trial team to play the South at Auckland on Saturday.
