The weather was very warm at Wimbledon for the all-England tennis championships. The King and Queen were present and were greatly interested in the Perry—Quist match. Quist played as though he recognised he hud no chance from the beginning and showed erratic form. Perry took things seriously, seldom relaxing. Lott drew Hopman to the net and lobbed overhead, making Hopman chase impossible balls and causing him to tiro quickly. Lott displayed superior courtcraft. Vou Cramni played against doctor’s orders. Kerby was thereby lucky to win and get a place in the last eight. Boussus made a great fight against Shields, only tho latter’s superior serving bringing victory and demoralising his opponent. Turnbull and McGrath advanced another round, defeating the New Zealanders Andrews and Stedman, although erratic play caused them to lose every game in the third set. Crawford remained in bed on Saturday and rested his throat. He should be fit to play Stoefen on Monday. Further results are as follows: —
