Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, July J, 4 p.m. General Situation.—-The recent storm is moving slowly away eastwards, and an intense anti-cyclone is centred over Tasmania. Forecasts. —Winds: South-westerly, still strong at first in exposed positions, otherwise light to moderate and decreasing. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough with a heavy ’ southerly swell, but moderating gradually. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds, seas rough with. a. heavy southerly swell, but conditions rapidly improving. \\ wither: Still cold and changeable, with scattered showers in j-iaces, especially in North Auckland and the far south, but improving, home severe frosts likely. I'he Now Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report lor 2-1 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday:—Bright sunshine, 6 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, trace. Shade temperature: Maximum, 48 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 35 deg. Fahr.
